ABOUT
James is a director, producer and cinematographer specialising in documentary, factual and character-led storytelling.
His work spans feature documentaries, short films and commercial content, with a particular interest in stories that explore people, place and the natural world. Recent projects include the feature documentary Rhino, narrated by Tom Hardy and released theatrically across the UK, alongside award-nominated short dramas and branded documentary work for a range of organisations and international brands.
Before moving into filmmaking, James served for fourteen years in the Royal Air Force, including as a military sniper. Working in demanding environments across the UK and overseas developed the observational skills, resilience and calm decision-making that continue to shape his approach behind the camera.
Whether documenting wildlife conservation in Kenya, exploring rural communities in Britain or creating commercial campaigns, James focuses on finding the human story at the centre of every project.
